The term "French theater" evokes most immediately the glories of the classical period and the peculiarities of the Theater of the Absurd. It has given us the works of Corneille, Racine, and Moliere. In the Romantic era there was Alexander Dumas and surrealist works of Alfred Jarry, and then the Theater of the Absurd erupted in rationalistic France with Samuel Beckett, Eugene Ionesco, and Jean-Paul Sartre. The Historical Dictionary of French Theater relates the history of the French theater througha chronology, introduction, bibliography, and over 400 cross-referenced dictionary entries on authors, trends, genres, concepts, and literary and historical developments that played a central role in the evolution of French theater.

Trouble Shooting Home Theater Audio Problems

!: Trouble Shooting Home Theater Audio Problems

Experiencing audio problems with your new home cinema system can be very frustrating since sound is one of the basic elements of the home theater experience. Many people would likely agree that the audio quality of a home theater system is just as crucial and possibly even more so than the home theater system video quality. An excellent audio element makes the cinema come to life right in your residence.

There are many problems which can arise with your sound system. Some are significant and necessitate replacement of home theater components. Others can be fixed with a minor adjustment. This is not a complete troubleshooting manual, but rather some advice for you if your home theater system provides poor sound quality.

Usually your first thought might be to conclude that your poor audio quality is caused by your speakers, before you immediately race out to purchase a new home theater surround sound speaker package, check the basic things first.

The problem might not be in the speakers, but in the amplifier or the connections from the amplifier. Checking and ensuring that the speakers are correctly connected on both ends is the first step.

After the connections pass examination, the next step is to check if the problem lies with the amplifier or audio speaker. Some of the lower end home theater systems come with low powered amps. Most often they do not supply sufficient power to speakers to produce the quality audio you desire. This may show up particularly if the room is large when the sound doesn't fill up the room.

To determine if it is indeed the amplifier then hook up your speakers to a stereo; this generally will have a more powerful amp. If the speaker quality improves then the problem probably lies in your home theater amplifier. If you can not distinguish any difference, then your speakers could possibly be at fault.

Poor cable installation and audio speaker cable are another possible cause for consideration. Cheap workmanship can lower audio quality and home theater packages often come equipped with inexpensive poor quality cables.

If you experience problems with your theater system, it is always best to assume the problem lies in the connections between components first and then suspect the components themselves. To ensure a great sound experience ensure that everything is properly connected, your amp is of sufficient power, and the cables are of high quality. If a person makes use of these basic easy precautions a significant amount of frustration can be eliminated. If your home theater sound isn't where you need it to be, use those hints as a blueprint as you analyze your system. If it really is time to look for new components, consider those directives as you make your next purchase.

Home Theater Design Suggestions

!: Home Theater Design Suggestions

Planning a home theater design is both exciting and challenging, especially to people who are not so inclined to technical and/or aesthetic matters. Nevertheless, anyone with the budget who wishes to set up a home theater can do so either on his own, with the help of knowledgeable relatives or friends or with the help of a professional. The latter is the easiest way out of home theater design worries but it would cost more.

The first consideration in home theater design is the actual room. Will you be converting your basement or a spare room in the house to a home theater? Will you be using your living room instead? In any case, the size of the room will determine the flexibility and the limitations of your home theater design. Naturally, the bigger the room the more you can do with it. For instance, you can place more seats and even put reclining movie theater seats with arm rests or set up a concession stand at the back. However, if the home theater is small or if the room is used for some other purpose, then the home theater design should take these factors into consideration.

The home theater room design should identify where each component of the home theater system would be placed. Usually, almost all of the equipment will be placed against the main wall. Try to arrange the seating so that people can stand up go to the rest room, for instance, without being much of an obstruction to the screen.

Furniture placement is also very important to your home theater room design. Where you place your entertainment stand, cabinets, and seats will affect the viewing experience in your home theater. Comfort is important in choosing furniture but so is the right size and shape. The pieces should fit the room and the overall home theater room design accordingly.

Lighting is also important to your home theater design because how you place the lights in addition to the type of light you use will either add to the look that you want to achieve or work against it. Additionally, if you will be setting up the living room as a home theater, you need to plan the layout of the home theater carefully so that light coming from outside through the windows will not reflect on the TV screen. Glare will ruin your viewing experience so you want to reduce or completely avoid this as much as possible in your home theater design.

Whether you opt for a do-it-yourself or professional home theater design, the best way to start your project is to do some research and find out all the design options you have that will work with your space and budget. From there, you can decide which design matches your dream home theater.

From the makers of Avia and Avia Pro comes the definitive and easy-to-use tutorial for optimizing your home theater. This all-inclusive guide to home theater calibration for NTSC, HD-DVD, Blu-ray or PAL formats comes with more than 200 test patterns to achieve superior video quality and nearly 100 audio tones for 5.1 and 6.1 channels, plus Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus. Basic and advanced signals allow you to select the test pattern or sound tone needed for a specific calibration, and tutorials cover various home theater components, speaker types and placement, making connection and wiring, and using a sound meter and home theater environments.

The sub-woofer is an eight-inch, 200 watt powered unit. This isn't your grandfather's sub-woofer, either, as its rigid design allows for movement without losing shape. The sub is surprisingly small, too, which makes for versatile room placement without sacrificing any of that hearty, deep bass. Bass boost, a phase switch and performance enhancements are all included.

The HKTS 20BQ 5.1 mid-range Speakers are constructed for realistic vocal effects, mid-bass response and smooth crisp sound. Each Speaker features a 3-1/2" mid-range driver. The full system uses dual 3-1/2" mid-range drivers for the center channel, allowing for the best in lucid and distinctive dialogue.

As for the tweeters, the Harman Kardon HKTS 20BQ 5.1 includes two-way design quarter-inch units. These are soft-dome tweeters, too. They're spongy and lightweight enough to replicate those high frequencies with dramatic meticulous detail.

The Harman Kardon HKTS 20BQ 5.1 home theater system is a comprehensive set-up for a reasonable price. The box packs in four HKTS 20BQ speakers, one HKTS 20BQ center speaker that is voice-matched and video-shielded like the others, the eight-inch sub-woofer, wall brackets for the five speakers, and enough cable wire to get the whole system pumping in no time.

Home Theater Speaker Configuration

Typical home theater setups are configured with 5.1 channels. The 5 denotes the use of 5 Speakers or channels; right front, center, left front, right rear, and a left rear. The.1 indicates a subwoofer for the low-frequency effects. For most home setups, 5.1 channels is adequate, however, some common configurations add an additional two surround channels, called Dolby Digital Plus 7.1. These additional channels include a left side surround and a right side surround. But... The fun does not end here. Newer configurations allow for 9.1 channels, known as Dolby Pro Logic IIz. This configuration adds an additional two front channels, a front left effect Speaker and a front right left Speaker. The intent is to add the feeling of space and depth to the sound field by placing the effect speakers up high, above the existing front channels.

You don't need to be confused with making a selection on which configuration to choose for your home theater. I love a good setup and put a lot of emphasis on acoustics. However, in order to achieve outstanding results you should not get caught up in all the hype - you don't need 9 channels, in fact you don't even need 7. For most theater's, 5 is perfect.

Home Theater 5.1

Going with 5.1 will accomplish the acoustical result you desire and save you money in the process. As you add more channels, the more the demands are placed on your receiver. And if you are concerned about missing out on all the new sounds offered in the latest movies, don't worry...most are still recorded in 5.1; and most importantly, I am confident you won't even notice a difference in adding the extra channels. However, if your intent is to build a very large theater with ceilings higher than 20 feet, you may want to explore 7 or 9 channels. During my design and planning, I decided that I wanted to stick with 5.1 but also keep my options open in the future in Case I changed my mind.

!1: Now is the time Vanco 120614X Custom Two-Piece Bulk Cable Wall Plates (Single, White) Order Today!

Nice Design by :VancoOver All Rating Reviews : Great Deal : $1.75Date Created :Mar 27, 2011 14:04:06
The Custom Two-Piece Bulk Cable Wall Plates has a unique wall plate design that provides easier installation. The removable design accommodates areas where space is limited, and the wall plate accommodates HDMI, DVI and VGA cables. High Definition Multi-Media Interface (HDMI) carries uncompressed digital video and audio signals on one cable from a digital video source to a display device. This provides the best detail, truest color and sound, and highest resolution. Digital Visual Interface (DVI) cables are used for connecting HDTVs, digital flat-panel displays and other video components with DVI connections to a digital DVD player, or other equipment with DVI connections.

Knowing that the studio's are always trying to create and push new sound mediums for the consumer I decided to future proof my room the best I could. I accomplished this by running extra speaker wire, in the 9 channel configuration, and installing PVC conduit in my ceilings so I could quickly and easily run new wire in the future. The extra cost was minimal and I highly recommend it to protect your investment in the future. Plus, if a speaker wire ever fails, etc it can easily be swapped-out.

Another thing I did to compliment my 5.1 setup was to add an extra subwoofer. An extra sub is not necessary, but two are usually better than one for a few reasons. Assuming you are using the same make and models, an additional sub will yield significantly better bass response. The sounds will be smooth and more evenly dispersed and the listening area will be wider. The quality of the sound will extend to all of your seating areas and you'll have a very hard time determining the source of the low frequencies; often with a single sub the bass may sound good from one seat and lumpy from another. Assuming proper placement, one sub is good but two are even better!

Bottom line, when designing your home theater all you need is a 5 channel setup; don't get caught up by all the hype on adding extra, unnecessary channels. If your receiver supports the use of two subwoofers, go ahead and add an extra. And last but not least, don't forget to future proof your room by adding some extra wiring and conduits.
